JKAACL organizes 2-day Dogri Writers’ Conference

JAMMU, Dec 23: Academy of Art, Culture and Languages organized a two-day All India Dogri Writers Conference, ‘Dharey Dhoorah Payeeyan’, which also marked traditional folk dance and music programme, specially the dying folk forms of Dogra region.
The second and concluding day of the conference started with paper reading session in which Padmashree Dr Jatindra Udhampuri, Prof O P Saraswatm, Rattan Doshi and Raj Rahi were amongst the panelists while Sheetal Kumari presented her research paper on the topic ‘Dogri Kahani Vartman Sathiti Te Agri Batt’, followed by delegate session and Kavi Sammelan.  Darshan Darshi, Piyush Guleri and Dr O P Sharma Saraswat were present in the presidium during the `Kavi Sammelan’.
In the delegate session, Darshan Darshi, Chaman Panthi, Prof Shiv Dev Singh Manhas and Gianeshwar were present as panelist.  On the occasion, a resolution was approved demanded that all the universities of Jammu province should introduce PG Departments of Dogri. The resolution also demanded  revision of syllabus of UPSC and PSC in the subject of Dogri, restoration of  folk literature  and other Academy publications lost in floods, ensuring the implementation of  Government order regarding teaching of Dogri in the 9th and 10th standard as a compulsory subject, etc.
The folk parties,  who performed,  included  Ashok Kumar and Party, Ramnagar (Masaadey), Krishan Lal and Party, Sujat Pur (Kaarkaan), Kamala Devi and Party, (Chadeyi, Muttal), Girdhari Lal and Party, RS Pura (Bhagtian), Tara Chand and Party, Ramnagar(Haran), Ramalo Ram and Party, Ramnagar(Geetru), Dhanni Ram and Party, Dhansal, (Chhajja) and Sudesh Pagan and Party, Bani (Kud).
Dr Krishan Lal, MLA Chhamb, was the chief guest while Jeewan Lal Lalhal, MLA, Bani was the special guest. They also performed in the Kud dance.
Shivani Anand, casual announcer Radio Kashmir Jammu and Hindi and Dogri poet, conducted proceedings of the event while Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, JKAACL presented vote of thanks.
