JAMMU, Aug 10: The Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) organized a solemn and respectful event to mark the 350th Martyrdom Day of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji at Gurdwara Singh Sabha (GSS), Singhpura, Pahalgam.
The programme paid glowing tribute to the 9th Sikh Guru, honouring his supreme sacrifice for the protection of human values, freedom of faith, and justice.
The event began with soulful Shabad Kirtan presented by local Ragi Popinder Singh and team which filled the atmosphere with devotion and reverence. He also recited melodious shabads that touched the hearts of all present.
Aya Singh, a well-known Pracharak, threw light on the life, legacy, and martyrdom of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur. His discourse inspired the gathering with the Guru’s message of peace, sacrifice, and religious tolerance.
Popinder Singh Paras, senior editor Sheeraza Punjabi, JKAACL, highlighted in detail the various literary, cultural, and commemorative programmes undertaken by the Academy in connection with this historic occasion.
Adding a youthful and creative touch to the event, young local talent such as Tanmeet Kaur, Gurdeep Kaur, Ashmeet Singh, Jasmeet Kour, Harbans Singh, Nakashdeep Singh, Paramjit Kour, Maldav Singh and others recited poems and verses dedicated to Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, reflecting their admiration for the Guru’s ideals and legacy.
The commemorative event witnessed the participation of hundreds of devotees, who gathered in the Gurdwara Sahib with great zeal and enthusiasm to pay homage to Guru Tegh Bahadur and to celebrate his timeless message of truth, courage and unity. Trilok Singh, representing JKAACL, provided valuable assistance to the Programme Officer in ensuring the success of the event. Kashmir Singh, Secretary of GSS Singhpura, also extended his support and cooperation.
The programme was conducted and anchored smoothly by Kashmir Singh, Secretary, GSS Singh Pura while Dr Sheetal Singh, President of Gurdwara Singh Sabha, Singhpura, presented the formal vote of thanks.
