JAMMU, Oct 20: In a heartwarming celebration of culture, tradition, and compassion, a soulful musical evening titled “Dogri Sangeet Sandhya – Ek Shaam Buzurgon Ke Naam” was organized at “Home for the Aged & Infirm (Vridh Ashram), Ambphalla, Jammu” on the eve of Diwali.
The event was a joint initiative of the Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) and Nami Dogri Sanshtha (NDS), Jammu.
The function was graced by Brij Mohan Sharma, Principal Secretary, Culture Department, J&K Government, as chief guest on the occasion. Harvinder Kaur, Secretary JKAACL; Sonali Arun Gupta, Addl. Secretary JKAACL; Shagun, Incharge Mission Shakti; Yati Satya Priyaji, Ex Mayor, Sunder Nagar (HP), O P Sharma Vidyarthi, Capt L K Sharma, Anupma Sharma, Patron and Advocate Dogra Harish Kaila, President, NDS Jammu, also graced the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Brij Mohan Sharma lauded the initiative, stating that such events strengthen the bond between generations and reaffirm the importance of preserving regional art forms while caring for our senior citizens. He also assured that henceforth such like programmes shall be held in this Home and Homes like SOS, Children Homes etc.
Harvinder Kaur and Advocate Dogra Harish Kaila also appreciated the efforts of the Home and the participating organizations for organizing a program that combines cultural promotion with humanitarian values.
Earlier, at the outset, Pankaj Gupta, MCM of The Home for the Aged & Infirm, presented welcome address.
The evening concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Dinesh Gupta, Secretary of the Home followed by interaction with the elderly residents and exchange of Diwali greetings.
