JAMMU, Dec 14: President, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL) has approved grant of financial assistance to the writers and artists of the State for the year 2015-16.
As per the recommendations of the secretary JKAACL, the president of the Academy has approved cumulative financial assistance of Rs 35.10 lakh @ Rs 2500 per person per month for 117 applicants for the year 2015-16.
“The President JKAACL (HCM) has accorded approval to our recommendation for grant of financial assistance in respect of 117 writers and artists of the State who are in need of financial assistance for dignified survival”, Dr Aziz Hajini, secretary, JKAACL informed.
Giving further details Hajini said that he will see to it that the cases for financial assistance are processed timely and the allocated money is deposited into the respective bank accounts of the concerned artists and writers on monthly basis.
For the year 2015-16, 526 applications were received by JKAACL under its indigent circumstances scheme for grant of financial assistance. The Assessment Committee recommended 117 persons for grant of financial assistance @ Rs 2500 per person per month.
It may be mentioned here that previously JKAACL was giving monthly assistance of Rs 700 only which has now been enhanced to Rs 2500 per person per month in pursuance of decision of Central Committee dated 3rd October, 2016.
While announcing assistance for the year 2015-16, Dr Hajini also announced that JKAACL will soon invite applications for grant of such assistance for the year 2016-17.
