JAMMU, Aug 6: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) National coordinator Dharmveer Singh Ashok has urged the Central Government to restore full Statehood status to Jammu and Kashmir at the earliest, asserting that the people of the region deserve to reclaim their rights.
Addressing media persons during a party event at the BSP headquarters in Satwari, where several new members joined the party fold, Dharmveer Singh said, “The time has come to restore full Statehood to J&K. People here want their rights and recognition, and the Central Government should act promptly.”
Highlighting the growing support for the party, he said the BSP is steadily expanding its base across the region. “Thousands of people have joined the party in the past one week alone. This campaign will continue in the coming days to strengthen the BSP at the grassroots level,” he added.
Echoing similar sentiments, BSP’s J&K president Darshan Rana said the party’s public outreach programme is gaining momentum, with more and more people connecting with the party. He too appealed to the Centre to grant full Statehood status to J&K without further delay.
Prominent party leaders present on the occasion included State vice president Charanjit Chargotra, general secretary Raja Singh, Rajouri-Poonch coordinator Haji Shak Mohammad, State secretary Tilak Raj Bhagat, Bishan Dass, Raj Kumar Thapa (district president Jammu), Tarsem Lal, and senior leader Pritam Chand.
