JAMMU, Feb 13: Jammu and Kashmir will soon have a regional centre of North Zone Culture Centre, Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India.
This was decided in a meeting here today chaired by the Commissioner/Secretary to Government, Tourism and Culture Department Shailendra Kumar with the Director, North Zone Culture Centre Prof. Rajinder Singh Gill.
The aim is to reach out the activities of NZCC to the far-flung, rural and border areas of the State. He further said that the Govt. will provide space and other logistic to NZCC for opening of its regional office .
Outlining the need for promotion of rich cultural diversity of the State, Shailendra asked the Director to initially organise inter-district cultural exchanges programmes of the groups to showcase their rich and distinct cultural traditions to the areas where such programmes will be held adding that the State has much to showcase not only within the State but also outside the State which will go a long way in bringing about cultural cohesion in the country; the need of the hour.
He further asked NZCC to sponsor cultural groups of the State to different parts of country for showcasing the cultural traditions there and also groups from other State to this part of the country, adding that both the State and NZCC will jointly work for its realization.
