J&K Psychiatric Society organises CME on Autism

JAMMU, Apr 20: The Jammu and Kashmir Psychiatric Society, in its Continuing Medical Education programme, organized a CME on Autism at Jammu.
The theme of the CME was “Understanding Autism and Accelerating recovery”. Autism is a neurodevelopmental disorder whose incidence is increasing among Children. Such children have problems in social interaction, communication skills, often have repetitive behavior patterns accompanied by emotional and behavioral problems.
The CME was inaugurated by Dr Mohammed Aslam, senior Psychiatrist from Srinagar and president of J and K Psychiatric Society. The event was moderated by Dr Imtiyaz Mansur, senior Psychiatrist from Srinagar. Dr Vikas Mahajan, a leading Pediatrician from Jammu, Dr Sayed Karrar, Child Psychiatrist from GMC Srinagar and Dr Prerna Sharma, Assistant Professor in Clinical Psychology from Dr RML Hospital New Delhi were the invited speakers.
Speakers from the field of Psychiatry, Clinical Psychology and Pediatric Medicine discussed various aspects of this disabling disorder across spectrum. The CME was well attended by Professionals from the field of Psychiatry, Psychology, Sociology and Human Development.
Prominent amongst those present were Dr UK Mehta, Dr Jagdish Thapa, Dr Kuldeep Koul, Dr Manu Arora, Dr Rakesh Banal, Dr Abhishek Chowhan, Dr Majid Shafi, Dr Manmeet Singh, Dr Ramashvar Manhas, Dr Akhil Menia and Dr Nikhil Gupta.
CME was followed by general body meeting of J & K Psychiatric Society and felicitations of the office bearers. The CME concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr Abhishek Chowhan, general secretary of J&K Psychiatric Society.
