SRINAGAR, Aug 7: The J&K Peace Forum (JKPF) today raised questions over the grievance redressal mechanism in the Union Territory and raised a volley of issues while seeking immediate resolution of the same.
Addressing a press conference here, Chairman JKPF Satish Mahaldar said that the Government has failed to be accountable, responsive to the redressal of public grievances.
“The people of the state have been pushed to the wall as no one has addressed their grievances. No administration can claim to be accountable, responsive and user-friendly unless it establishes an efficient and effective grievance redressal mechanism,” he said.
He said that the JKPA demands one job per household for youth between 18 -35 years of age by 2021 and an allowance of Rs 5,500 per month for every jobless member. “It should be provided through a ‘Berozgari Bhatta Card’ for 36 months till they are employed,” he said.
The respective unemployed youth during the period they get stipend amount, JKPA said, should be enrolled with Skill Development Institutes and the training should be combined with work-based learning recently we all had been witnessing young people are committing suicides which are becoming a dangerous trend in the state.
JKPA said that there is a need for training rural youth for self-employment and that the young qualified professionals should be encouraged to set up their profession and for that, financial assistance of Rs 50,000 to Rs 2, 00,000 should be given.
“We also demand that at least 2/10 of (2 %) of the annual J&K Budget should be, regularly, dedicated to the return and rehabilitation of migrants in the Valley,” Mahaldar said.
JKPA also demanded that the land should be allocated free of cost for new colonies at Habbakadal, Raj Bagh as per the representation submitted in the PMO & HMO offices.
Mahaldar also demanded the constitution of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the killings of Pandits in the valley since 1989 and identify those responsible for the exodus of the Kashmiri Pandits from their homeland.
“We also demand probe into the mass killings including Kashmiri Muslims, Sikhs & other communities perpetrated against them over the last 35 years,” he said.
JKPF has appealed to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to address their demands in the interest of the citizen of the J&K.
