J&K, Ladakh Pensioners Front demands 8th Pay Commission

JAMMU, Feb 8: The Jammu, Kashmir, & Ladakh Pensioners United Front led by senior Trade Union leader, Abdul Qayoom Wani in a convention held at Jammu today strongly projected the issues of the pensioners of the Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
Members of the Front from Ladakh, Kashmir and Jammu, participated in the one day convention held at Teachers’ Bhawan, Gandhinagar, Jammu on Sunday. Senior Trade Union leaders including, Qayoom Wani, Bhupinder Shastri, Ahmedullah Wani, Aijaz Ahmed Khan, Sheikh Abdul Rashid, Parshotam Sharma, Dr Manzoor, Showkat Hussain Beg and many others addressed the gathering and projected the issues of the pensioners.
These Trade unionists criticized the Government for ignoring the long pending demands and issues of the pensioners. They said despite several representations submitted to the Lt Governor, Chief Minister and even the Chief Secretary of the UT of Jammu and Kashmir, their issues have remained un-addressed. They made passionate appeal to the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and the Lt Governor (J&K/ Ladakh) to address the issues of the pensioners.
A resolution was adopted and passed unanimously by the House during the convention, demanding implementation of 8th Pay Commission report without any delay; enhancement of Medical Allowance of the pensioners from Rs 300 to Rs 1000 per month; stoppage of excess recovery of computation of pension in light of court orders beyond 12 years; clearance of pendency with regard to gratuity, GP Fund, leave salary and other claims of the pensioners; implementation of Senior Citizens Act, 2017 and opening of special facilitation counters for senior citizens at hospitals, airports, railway stations and banks; grant benefit of SRO 59 in favour of all pensioners; expedite regularization process of all I/C officers; implementation of Minimum Wages Act and regularization of daily wagers working in various Govt departments in the Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
