J&K Housing Board headless, people suffering

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Nov 7: As the post of MD J&K Housing Board is lying vacant for last over four months, public have been suffering a lot to transfer ownership of plots in their name.
A delegation of allottees of J&K Housing Board today visited Excelsior office and alleged that they have been making rounds of the office of J&K Housing Board for last over four months for transfer of ownership in their name but every time, they visit the office, they were told by the officials to come next month as the post of MD is yet to be filled.
They said that the previous MD of the Housing Board Arvind Kotwal had retired on June 30 this year and since then the post is lying vacant. The Government has not even given additional charge to any other officer of the Housing Board, failing which all the files are lying pending and the common masses are suffering.
“Many original allottees want to sell their plots and several others want freehold rights of the allotted plots but their files have been gathering dust in the Housing Board for several months in the absence of Head of the Housing Board,” they said, adding, despite giving several representations to higher ups in Housing & Urban Development Department (H&UDD), nothing was done to redress their issues and fill the post of the MD J&K Housing Board.
This correspondent attempted several calls to Principal Secretary, H&UDD, Dheeraj Gupta to talk on the issue but neither he picked up the call nor replied back.
