JAMMU, Nov 11: Jammu and Kashmir today scripted a glorious chapter in their cricketing history, registering their maiden victory over the formidable Delhi side in the ongoing Ranji Trophy Elite Group encounter at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium Delhi.
The day belonged to the sensational Qamran Iqbal, whose unbeaten century powered J&K to a landmark win. Qamran’s scintillating 133 not out off 147 balls, adorned with 20 boundaries and three sixes, was a blend of grace, aggression, and composure. His knock exuded class and confidence as he guided J&K through a challenging chase, ensuring a seven-wicket victory in just 43.3 overs. Skipper Paras Dogra gave valuable support, remaining unbeaten on 12, as the duo steered the team to a historic finish.
Resuming at 55 for 2, J&K displayed remarkable maturity, with Qamran anchoring the innings brilliantly. For Delhi, Hrithik Shokeen claimed two wickets, while Manan Bharadwaj picked up one.
Earlier, on day three, left-arm spinner Vanshaj Sharma produced a stellar bowling performance, claiming 6 for 68 in 16.1 overs, dismantling Delhi’s second innings. Off-spinner Sahil Lotra took three wickets, while Abid Mushtaq added one to bundle out Delhi for 277 runs. Ayush Badoni (72) and Ayush Doseja (62) were Delhi’s top scorers.
Delhi had earlier struggled in their first innings due to Aquib Nabi’s fiery spell, before staging a fightback in the second. However, J&K’s disciplined bowling and composed batting sealed the contest emphatically.
In a congratulatory message, Brig Anil Gupta, Member Administration, JKCA, lauded Paras Dogra, Qamran Iqbal, Vanshaj Sharma, Abdul Samad and Sahil Lotra as the heroes of this historic triumph—one that will be remembered as a defining moment in Jammu and Kashmir’s cricketing journey.
