J&K Bank organises re-KYC, financial inclusion camp in Samba

SAMBA, Aug 25: As part of its ongoing efforts to promote financial inclusion, J&K Bank today organised an awareness camp on re-KYC and social security schemes at village Nandpur in Samba district.
A statement said the event attracted a large gathering from the local community.
It said the camp was inaugurated by Regional Director, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Jammu, Chandrashekhar Azad, who was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
He was joined by J&K Bank’s General Manager and Divisional Head Jammu Ashok Gupta, Zonal Head Kathua Suresh Kumar Choudhary, DGM RBI Jammu Ram Saroop, and other senior officials from RBI and the Bank.
Speaking at the event, Chandrashekhar Azad praised the Bank’s outreach initiatives, calling them crucial in taking banking services to every corner of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.
He stressed the importance of completing re-KYC on time to ensure uninterrupted services and advised people to remain alert against digital frauds.
Divisional Head Ashok Gupta reiterated the Bank’s commitment to strengthening financial inclusion.
He explained that re-KYC is a mandatory process to update customer details, which not only ensures data security but also helps in preventing financial crimes such as money laundering.
He said banks play a vital role in extending the benefits of social security schemes to a larger population, thereby empowering communities financially.
During the programme, bank officials conducted detailed presentations on the process of re-KYC and various Government-backed social security schemes.
To make the event more engaging, the Bank’s team staged a special play on financial literacy, which drew wide appreciation from the audience.
RBI officials also shared their views on the need for safe banking and inclusive financial practices.
The camp witnessed enthusiastic participation from residents of the area, many of whom enrolled themselves under different schemes on the spot.
