RAJOURI, Aug 26: Some property was damaged as the Jammu and Kashmir Bank branch at Sunderbani caught fire today.
Official sources said that due to short circuit, the bank branch caught fire during morning hours. A panic was created as the smoke started coming out of the bank branch when it was functioning. The customer and staff ran for the safety. Some of the employees started rescue work.
The Fire Services authorities were also informed. But vehicle arrived after an hour. By then the staff and locals had controlled the fire. A major tragedy was averted with the hard work of the staff and the locals.
Branch Manager Joginder Khajuria said that smokes started coming from the electrical panel room. He along with staff rushed there and saw burning electric wires and cables due to short circuit. The staff managed to control the fire themselves. The information was also given to Fire Brigade Control Room. There was no major loss by fire, the Manager said.
