JAMMU, June 12: A delegation of residents from Jeevan Nagar, Ward number 58, today met with the Divisional Commissioner Jammu and urged immediate redressal of various civic issues affecting their locality.
The residents highlighted the serious problem of waterlogging during rains due to the overflow of a nearby nallah.
They demanded the construction of a reinforced cement concrete (RCC) wall along the nallah to prevent flooding of residential areas.
The Divisional Commissioner assured the delegation that the issue would be taken up on priority.
The delegation also raised the issue of poor electricity supply in the Babliana area.
They informed that the current 6.3 MVA transformer at the local power station is unable to handle the load, resulting in frequent power cuts.
A request was made for the installation of a 10 MVA transformer to improve supply, especially during the summer months.
Another key concern was water scarcity and leaking pipelines. The residents sought the Divisional Commissioner’s intervention for early replacement of the damaged water supply lines.
Later, the delegation also approached Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) officials, highlighting the poor condition of drains and nallahs in Akali Kour Singh Nagar, Roop Nagar, Digiana, Dashmesh Nagar, Digiana Camp, and Jeevan Nagar.
They requested timely de-silting and cleaning of drains to avoid health hazards and ensure smooth drainage ahead of the monsoon.
Prominent citizens in the delegation included Narinder Gupta, Anil Sani, Rakesh Choudhary, Sukhwinder Singh, Priya Kumari, Lokesh Mahajan, Harvinder Singh, Neeraj Gupta, Harjeet Singh, and Narinder Singh.
Residents of Ward number 58 appreciated the consistent efforts of Parvinder Singh Happy for his role in raising public issues with the authorities and helping organise the meetings.
