JDCC organizes painting cum poster competition

JAMMU, Nov 12: In connection with World Diabetes Day, is falling on November 14, Janta Diabetes Care Centre (JDCC), Talab Tillo, Jammu in collaboration with J&K Fine Arts Society (JAKFAS), Jammu organized 18th annual on spot painting-cum-poster competition at Kamla Palace, here today.
The motive of the painting competition was to create awareness about the Diabetes. About 200 students from 20 schools of Jammu participated in the competition and put their thoughts and concepts with the help of paint and brush on paper.
The painting competition was held on the concepts: Changing Life Style- A cause of Diabetes, Less Calories of Optimum Weight-Lesser Diabetes, Fast Food Kills Fast-Live better, Control Blood Sugar-Prevent Complications, Insulin- A Friend in need, Know your Disease-And Live Long, and other topics related to Diabetes.
Dr Raj Kumar Sharma, Senior Diabetologist from Jammu and a well known artist, discussed various aspects in the management of the disease and that certain precautions and care can help in the management of diabetes and prevent long term complications. He said that the theme for World Diabetes Day 2018 is “The Family & Diabetes”.
He further emphasized that by regular monitoring of blood sugar and consultations with doctor, long term complication like that of heart, kidney, brain, eyes and legs, which are cause of great morbidity and mortality can be checked. Dr Raj Kumar also highlighted that regular exercise and balanced diet along with life style modifications go a long way in controlling diabetes.
In Junior Category, the first prize went to Shivani of Guru Nanak Public School, 2nd to Mishika Mittal of KC Public School and 3rd to Riya Thakur of Shiksha Niketan, Gandhi Nagar while Bandana Singh Langeh of St Xavier Convent School and Neha Chouhan of Kotwal national Institute of Teaching got consolation prizes.
In senior category, Pranav Rajesh of Kotwal National Institute of Teaching got 1st prize while Yanvi Sharma and Sanjana Sharma of APS Akhnoor bagged 2nd and 3rd prizes, respectively. Huzaif of Shiksha Niketan, Gandhi Nagar and Tanvi Gupta of May fair School, Chand Nagar got consolation prizes.
The competition was judged by eminent artists-Chander Sunder, Vijay Gupta and Sushil Dubey while Suresh Sharma, secretary, JAKFAS, was also present.
