JAMMU, June 17: The residents of the JDA Housing Colony , Roop Nagar , Jammu under the banner of Welfare Association held a demonstration in protest against the opening of proposed JDA Club with the provisions of wine shop in Sector 3, Roop Nagar, Jammu.
The protest was led by Uttam Deep Sharma president of the Association and its other members including J N Ralli, B K Sharma, Mulkh Raj Sharma, S C Koushal, K R Baghnathia, N L Bhat, Gulab Chan and Ashok Gupta participated in it.
The protestors while warning against the opening of Club and wine shop said that it is being done on the behest of some miscreants who are always hell bent to disturb the peaceful atmosphere of the Colony. They said the residents are up in arms against the move and they will frustrate any such design by fighting it tooth and nail.
They said 15 years back a proposal was mooted to establish a club and wine shop in the area by some persons and due to the stiff resistance by the residents of the colony , it was shelved by the authorities and permission to run the JDA resort was allowed to be placed which is running till date to entire satisfaction of the residents and the authorities. They said that establishing of Club and Wine shop in a residential colony is not permissible under rules.
