JDA conducts anti-encroachment drive

JAMMU, June 30: An anti-encroachment drive was carried out at Boria Market, Bagh-e-Bahu by Jammu Development Authority (JDA) under the supervision of Vice Chairman, JDA Pankaj Magotra today morning.
The drive was conducted to remove encroachment of roads and public spaces by scrap dealers working in the area.
The action was undertaken on the basis of complaints received from locals. The encroachers were adequately warned beforehand and advised by the Director Land Management, JDA during field visits and meetings to peruse the scrap dealers to remove encroachments on their own. Even khilafwarzi wing of JDA made announcements through Public Announcement System asking the dealers to voluntarily remove the encroachment.
As the unclaimed vehicles continued to remain there encroaching public spaces, the Chief Enforcement Officer, JDA today carried out the drive with the help of men and machinery and lifted these vehicles and freed the public places and road sides from encroachment, which was widely appreciated by local residents and devotees on their way to Bawe-wali Mata Temple.
The JDA shall carry out similar exercise in other areas also with a higher intensity in near future.
