JCUSS expresses concern over divisive politics on university campuses

JAMMU, Jan 10: The Jammu Central University Shaikshik Sangh, an affiliate of Akhil Bhartiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Sangh ( ABRSS) has expressed serious concern over the boil on the University campuses across the country.
In a discussion held amongst the office-bearers and members in the campus of Central University of Jammu here today, the Association dwelt at length over the nature of organized gory violence which is becoming a rampant phenomenon in the premier institutions of higher learning across the country. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Deepak Pathania, President Shaikishik Sangh expressed his concern over the divisive forces which are hijacking the academic ambience of universities like JNU, Jamia Millia and AMU.
Dr Vandana Sharma, the Vice President said that the way students are being used as a political weapon is not only vitiating the academic environment of campuses but is a matter of serious concern for academia because youth power of the nation is forced to be entangled in undesired and uncalled for activities. Prof Rasaal Singh expressed his concern over the downgrading of educational institutions across the country purely spearheaded by some divisive forces.
Dr Ajay Singh gave an overview of the organized anti -India campaign which is sweeping across the country for purely political reasons. Adding to this Dr Richa Kothari said that universities which are meant for research and particularly premier institutions like JNU known once for research output are being geared on the path of violence.
All members of the Association, including Prof Sunil Dhar, Dr J N Baliya, Dr Naresh Sharma, Dr Shweta, Dr Anita, Dr Asit Mantri and others unanimously agreed to strengthen the mandate of such forums which are working in the positive direction of enhancing the academic environment of university by fostering critical thinking imperative for research and nation building.
Further, the members strongly opposed any divisive elements and uncalled for confusions being created in the country and welcomed the unifying moves of the Government of India like abrogation of Article 370 and Citizens’ Amendment Act.
