JCS seeks linking of Bawe Wali Mata, Mahamaya Temple & Har Ki Paudi

JAMMU, Sept 22: Jammu Civil Society (JCS) members met under the chairmanship of Pardeep Gandotra and unanimously resolved to place a proposal along with the blueprint before the CEO Jammu Smart City Ltd, Dr Devansh Yadav for road connectivity between Bawe Wali Mata Temple, Har Ki Pauri and Mata Mahamaya Temple.
As per the proposal, drafted by JCS, a motorable religious corridor linking these religious places should be developed for convenience of devotees/ tourists besides providing facility of Golf Cart and wheel chair for old age and handicapped persons.
An alternate connectivity should also be provided from new JDS Parking (Bawe Wali Mata) to Har Ki Paudi Temple with facility of Lift/Escalator or Gold Car as feasible, JCS said, adding that maintenance, widening and upgradation of existing Bawe Wali Mata road, Ropeway (Gandola) point to Har Ki Paudi road and Mahamaya Mata Temple road should be carried out so that the existing roads can be safely used in all weather conditions.
Also seeking upgradation of Bhawe Wali Mata Temple and Mahamaya Mata Temple, JCS explained that a large number of devotees from J&K and other parts of the country visit these ancient temples, which have large land attached to them but have very small space in the Mandapa outside the sanctum sanctorum for accommodating the worshippers at a time.
In the draft memorandum, JCS has demanded upgradation of the old parking area of Bhawe Wali Mata Temple, utilizing JDA Park for entry and exist of devotees so as to avoid overcrowding, lights and camera on the road for safety purpose and construction of Sarai/shelter homes at Har Ki Paudi and Mahamaya Mata Temple for devotees/tourists.
The meet observed that no developments have been made by the consecutive Governments of J&K and these eight century temples are not well maintained with the result devotees have to wait for hours together to seek Darshan.
JCS said that its proposal will lead to overall development of the area and the temples besides leading to employment and better economic development of Jammu.
During the meet, it was also proposed to request for inclusion of parking lots at Tourist Reception Centre, Government Girls High School at City Chowk, Mubarak Mandi Complex, Hari Singh Park, Parade & Jewel Chowk under the scheme for Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) Reforms.
The meet concluded with a formal vote of thanks presented by Vinod Sachdeva, Co-Chairman of JCS. Those who attended the meeting, included former Judge Suresh Sharma, Arjun Singh Chib, Harinder Gupta, Satish Koul, Harinder Mahajan, Jagdish Langer, Suresh Sharma, Siddhant Chowdhary, Bhupesh Gupta, Pragya and Praguni.
