JAMMU, Aug 4: A delegation of the Jammu Chamber of Commerce led by its president Arun Gupta met Vice Chairman of Jammu Development Authority (JDA) Rupesh Kumar and took up several locals issues.
While speaking on the occasion Arun Gupta apprised the VC JDA about the issues pertaining to Bahu Plaza, Shiv Market, Railway Station, Bus Stand and Transport Nagar. During discussions Gupta pointed out that Bahu Plaza is the only Commercial Market in Jammu which was developed by JDA in the year 1996-97, but till date only 50% of the shops/halls are working and the remaining sites are closed due to wrong policies of the JDA.
He said that the shops/halls were allotted to the lease holders after taking advertised money from them, but still their cases are pending either in the court of law or with the department because of which a beautiful market is not getting due clientage. He further said that presently this area has become a heaven for drug- addicts for taking drugs without being noticed by anyone because they are taking advantage of 50% commercial sites being non-functional due to wrong policies of the Jammu Development Authority.
Gupta also pointed out that JDA should come forward to develop new commercial sites to absorb the educated youth instead of disturbing /harassing the present allottees of commercial sites at Bahu Plaza and other areas.
While discussing the issue relating to lease deeds of Shiv Market Railway Station, Gupta said that though the shopkeepers have deposited the money advertised by JDA in newspapers, but still their lease deeds have not been executed.
He said the work of black topping and sewerage system in Transport Nagar is going on very slowly causing unnecessary delay in completing the work on the said project. He further said that many cases for transfer of lease property are pending with the department because their files are not traceable in the department. He pleaded that their cases be solved on the basis of documents provided by the applicants without any further delay.
Vice Chairman gave patient hearing and assured that after studying the case relating to lease deeds of Shiv Market Railway Station, the said matter shall be solved very soon and regarding the issue of Transport Nagar he said that after going through the detail he will ensure speedy completion of the project.
