JAMMU, Aug 2: A delegation of the Jammu Chamber of Commerce & Industry (JCCI) headed by its president, Arun Gupta called on Commissioner State Taxes, PK Bhat where Additional Commissioner Enforcement, Namrata Dogra was also present.
During discussion Arun Gupta apprised the Commissioner State Taxes about the callous attitude of the officials of the Enforcement Wing of State Taxes Department in Jammu province who are deliberately harassing the innocent businessmen of Jammu by imposing huge penalties on the pretext of minor issues such as e-way bill, mismatching of vehicles number and other minor issues. He pointed out that the businessmen are depositing the GST amount honestly, no penalties should be imposed on minor defaults.
Gupta further said that as and when the office bearers of Chamber of Commerce & Industry approached the enforcement team of the State Taxes Department they informed us that they have got the target of revenue collection and have also been asked/ authorized by the department to penalize the defaulting traders even on minor issues to complete the assigned target.
While reacting on the issues raised by Chamber team, Commissioner State Taxes assured that no penalties shall be imposed on the minor issues.
He further assured that very shortly a meeting between the Enforcement Wing and Jammu Chamber of Commerce & Industry shall be arranged to resolve the issues.
The other Chamber office bearers who accompanied the delegation include Anil Gupta- senior vice president, Rajeev Gupta- junior vice president, Manish Gupta- secretary general, Rajesh Gupta- secretary and Rajesh Gupta- treasurer.
