HANDWARA, June 14: In a major crackdown on illegal mining activities, Police today seized eight tippers, one tractor, and one JCB from different locations across Police District Handwara for their involvement in unauthorized extraction and transportation of minerals.
Acting on specific inputs, police teams from various police stations carried out coordinated enforcement drives. During these operations, the vehicles were found transporting minerals without valid documentation, in violation of the Jammu and Kashmir Minor Mineral Concession, Storage, Transportation of Minerals and Prevention of Illegal Mining Rules, 2016.
Handwara Police has initiated action against all these violators as per the provisions of law stipulated in this regard.
