Jayesh flays NC Govt for Urdu in NT recruitment

JAMMU, June 29: Social activist Jayesh Gupta has flayed the NC government for imposing Urdu as a compulsory subject in the recently notified Naib Tehsildar (NT) Recruitment 2025.
In a press conference here today Gupta said that the development is a direct attack on the principles of equal opportunity and merit-based selection, particularly targeting the youth of the Jammu region.
He claimed that this move also reflects a long-standing bias aimed at sidelining deserving candidates through linguistic barriers.
Gupta questioned why the Urdu language is made mandatory only for NTs while higher-ranking officers like Tehsildars, SDMs, ACRs and Divisional Commissioners who deal directly with revenue matters need no such requirement.
He also condemned the silence of Jammu-based Cabinet Ministers Surinder Chaudhary and Satish Sharma in this regard.
