JAMMU, Sept 14: Social activist, Jayesh Gupta has expressed concern over the situation caused by recent spell of heavy rains and flash floods which triggered land sinking in Lower Bermini, Gurda and Rati villages of Bahu constituency.
After visiting the affected localities, Gupta observed that several families were living under imminent threat as their houses had developed cracks with walls got tilted leading to structural imbalances rendering the homes unsafe.
He urged the Government to provide special compensation and immediate financial assistance to the affected families.
Gupta stressed for a comprehensive rehabilitation package and permanent safety measures to protect lives and property.
He also emphasized the urgent need to restore vital road links that have been cut off, isolating the people from essential services and supplies.
