POONCH, Dec 16: An Army jawan deployed at a forward post along the Line of Control (LoC) in Balakote area of Mendhar sector, shot dead a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) of his unit today.
Official sources said that after tiff with Subedar Jasbir Singh over some issue, Sepoy Laxminarayan in a fit of anger took out his service rifle and fired on his senior, causing him serious bullet injuries.
While jawan was overpowered by other Armymen who snatched his rifle, the critically injured Subedar was rushed to Brigade Hospital at Bhimber Gali, where he was declared as brought dead. The police has registered a criminal case in this connection. The jawan has also been arrested for the offence.
The body of the JCO after postmortem was handed over to the officers of 15 Raj Rifles unit. The Army has also ordered court of inquiry into the incident.
