Jawan among 3 hurt in blasts

JAMMU, Jan 10: Three persons including an Army jawan were injured in mine blasts on Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.
As per police sources, a jawan identified as Shiv Ram Lingam of Field Regiment this morning got injured in an accidental mine blast, while on patrolling duty near LoC in Guntrain area of Poonch.
The mine exploded, when the jawan inadvertently stepped over it. His right leg got critically injured in the explosion and he was rushed to the hospital.
Meanwhile, two civilians, working with Army, were injured when a landmine exploded near LoC in Keran sector in the frontier district of Kupwara.
The landmine exploded accidentally when repair work on fencing was going on near LoC resulting in injuries to Parvez Ahmad Mir and Abdul Majid Mir, resident of Keran.
The area has recently witnessed heavy snowfall with the result fencing was damaged. The injured were rushed to local hospital from where they were referred to Srinagar. One of the injured Parvez has lost his foot in the blast.
However, a live mortar shell was found this afternoon in a field at village Seri of Nowshera. The villagers informed the Army and a team was rushed to the spot.
The shell was defused on the spot.
