SRINAGAR, Oct 20: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCC&I) today held its adjourned 91st Annual General Meeting (AGM) at Hotel The Kabo, Srinagar.
Chaired by Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, Chairman of the KCC&I Election Commission, the meeting declared the results of the Executive Committee elections held on October 6, 2025.
Out of 30 contesting candidates, 21 members—a mix of experienced and youth—were elected to the Executive Committee for the 2025–27 term.
Following the declaration, the newly elected members chose the office bearers for the Chamber.
As per a statement, Javid Ahmad Tenga was re-elected President, while Faiz Ahmad Bakshi was elected Secretary General. Both have been chosen for the third consecutive term.
Other office bearers include Dr Umer Nazir Tibetbaqal as Senior Vice President, Farooq Amin (Junior Vice President), Akib Chaya (Joint Secretary General), and Amir Manzoor Guna (Treasurer).
In his address, President Tenga thanked members for their continued trust and pledged to work for the revival and strengthening of Kashmir’s economy.
He highlighted challenges facing the tourism, horticulture, and handicraft sectors, stressing the need for Government support and better infrastructure.
He urged for a special freight train service during the harvest season to help fruit growers and called for renewed efforts to boost handicraft exports.
Tenga also appreciated the outgoing office bearers for their contributions and urged all members to work with unity and dedication for the region’s economic growth.
The Chamber extended a special vote of thanks to Mushtaq Ahmad Wani and the Election Commission for conducting fair and transparent elections, with support from the District Administration.
Past Presidents and senior members congratulated the new team, calling for transparency, teamwork, and dialogue with policymakers.
The AGM concluded with a collective pledge to work for the welfare of traders, entrepreneurs, and the overall business community of Jammu and Kashmir.
