NEW DELHI, Nov 14: Tribal Researcher, Dr. Javaid Rahi represented J&K at the two-day national festival of Tribal Languages of India, organised by the National Tribal Research Institute under Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs. The festival concluded here today.
The event witnessed the participation of 150 tribal writers from across India and was held as part of the observance of Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh, commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Dhartiyaaba Bhagwan Birsa Munda.
In his address on Tribal Heritage, Dr. Javaid Rahi emphasised the urgent need for preservation and documentation of the oral traditions of Scheduled Tribe communities through modern audiovisual techniques. He highlighted that tribal knowledge systems—sustained for centuries through folk songs, folk tales, proverbs and expressions of wisdom—require immediate and systematic documentation.
The event was graced by Savitri Thakur, MoS, Ministry of Women and Child Development while Ranjana Chopra, Secretary, Ministry of Tribal Affairs, was special guest on the occasion.
