JAMMU, Apr 5: Eminent literary figure of Jammu and Kashmir, Babu Noor Mohammad Noor, father of noted tribal researcher Dr Javaid Rahi, serving Secretary, Kala Kendra Jammu, passed away this morning after a prolonged illness at his native village Chandak in Poonch district. He was 85.
The funeral prayers of the deceased were held at Eid-Gah, Chandak, and were attended by a large number of people from different walks of life.
Babu Noor Mohammad Noor was a distinguished author and poet in Gojri and Punjabi languages. He made significant contributions to literature through his writings, authoring eight books in Gojri and one in Punjabi. His literary works have left an enduring impact and will be remembered with deep respect and admiration.
Several prominent personalities expressed their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. Among them were Javed Ahmed Rana, Minister for Environment and Tribal Affairs; Mian Altaf Ahmed (MP); Mohammad Akram (MLA Surankote); Tariq Hamid Karra (former minister); Brij Mohan Sharma (Principal Secretary, Department of Culture); Shahid Iqbal (Secretary, Youth Services and Sports) and Harvinder Kour (secretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages).
