JAMMU, Jan 17: All Jammu and Kashmir Jatt Sabha, president and former Minister, Manjit Singh today appealed to the Industries Department to allot plots to dairy farm operators, so that they can run their milk products business smoothly and expand production in an organised manner.
Singh made an appeal during a meeting organised by the newly appointed district president of All J&K Jatt Sabha youth wing, Shivam Choudhary.
The meeting was chaired by Manjit Singh and attended by senior leaders including MLA Vikram Randhawa, district president Jammu Urban and former Corporator Dwarka Choudhary, along with other prominent members of the community.
During the meeting, members of the Jatt community expressed serious concern over the alleged unjustified harassment by the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) of dairy farm owners involved in milk production.
They said repeated actions by JMC officials have adversely affected business growth and caused heavy financial losses to dairy operators.
Addressing the gathering, Manjit Singh extended full support to dairy farm owners and strongly condemned the attitude of certain JMC officials.
He demanded that the Industries Department should allot dedicated plots to dairy farm operators, enabling them to establish units under proper supervision and adopt modern techniques to scale up milk and milk-product production.
MLA Vikram Randhawa expressed concern over the difficult conditions faced by milk suppliers from the Jatt community.
He also raised the issue of Displaced Persons, urging the Government to address their long-pending demands and provide employment opportunities to unemployed educated youth.
Former Corporator and district president Jammu Urban, Dwarka Choudhary, also addressed the meeting and supported the demands raised by the community.
Mandeep Choudhary, president Youth Wing Jatt Sabha and Shivam Choudhary, youth president Jammu District, highlighted various issues being faced by the Jatt community, particularly those related to dairy farming and employment.
Prominent among those present included Jarnail Choudhary, Kamal Randhawa and other community members.
