Jashn-e-Azadi programme concludes with poetic meet

JAMMU, Aug 21: On concluding day of Jashn-e-Azadi 2015, a 4-day multi-lingual poetry festival by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages in collaboration with PG Department of Urdu, University of Jammu, a multi-lingual Mushaira was organized at JU.
Satish Vimal, Hindi, Urdu and Kashmiri poet, writer and scholar of national repute presided while JU Vice-Chancellor Prof R D Sharma, was the chief guest.
Prof  R D Sharma, while speaking on the occasion, said that poets and writers can bring a revolutionary change in the society and such activities help in changing the mindset of the youth. He desired such more activities in the respective departments and University of Jammu.
Satish Vimal said that the budding poets who participated in this Mushaira, have the instinct of poetry and may continue in this field with full devotion and dedication.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary JKAACL,  said that more than 100 poets of respective languages participated in the Jashn-e-Azadi and more than 25 students/scholars of the respective language Departments also recited their poetry.
The poets who participated in the programme, included Vidya Rattan Aasi, Liaquat Jafri, Betaab Jaipuri, Sham Talib,  Deepak Aasi,  O P Shakir,  Rashid Hussain Rahat,  Khalid Krar,  Satish Vimal,  P N Koul,  Bal Krishan Sanyasi,  Pyare Hatash,  R L Johar,  P N Shad,  Sarvar Chouhan,  Mohd  Amin,  Ab  Rashid,  Swami Anter Neerav,  Sheikh Zahoor,  Rakesh Talib,  Ghulam Jeelani,  Abdul Qadir Abdul,  Shahid Iqbal Kousar and  Mohd  Abrar.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by  Reeta Rani, Asstt Editor, Dogri Dictionary.
