JAMMU, Mar 26: The first ever ‘Jammu Youth Theatre Festival’ is beginning from March 28 at the auditorium of Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu. Organised by Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Ministry of External Affairs Government of India and North Zone Cultural Centre, Ministry of Culture, Government of India jointly this theatre festival by young actors will feature five plays.
Giving details about this first ever theatre event by youth, Regional Director of Indian Council for Cultural Relations, Jammu Balwant Thakur informed that this festival is a product of five theatre workshops jointly organised by ICCR and NZCC in five different colleges of the city.
The motive behind these workshops was to provide college students an opportunity to explore their immense inner abilities under the professional guidance.
He added that festival is being inaugurated by Sarita Chauhan, Commissioner/ Secretary Higher Education Department with the presentation of the Hindi play ‘Kya Yeh Sach Hai’ by the students of Government College for Women, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu under the direction of Anil Tickoo.
On March 29 (Sunday) the first play ‘Final Solutions’ will be presented by the students of Government SPM College of Commerce under the direction of Ravinder Sharma at 11 am. The second play of the day will be ‘Gagan Damama Bajyo’ to be featured at 1 pm and will be presented by the students of Government MAM College under the direction of Abhishek Bharti.
On March 30 (Monday) the first play ‘Apne Apne Kshitij’ will be presented by the students of Government College for Women, Parade under the direction of Bipin Gupta and the final presentation of the festival will be ‘Natak Ki Talaash’ which will be presented by the students of GGM Science College under the direction of Sumeet Sharma, he added.
Balwant Thakur further informed that efforts will be made to create a major event after this festival will be over and the best of the performers will be felicitated with the presentation of merit certificates and the outstanding play of the festival will also feature in that event.
