Jammu hosts high-energy Inter-District & Inter-Zonal Sports Competitions

JAMMU, Sept 24: The Inter-District Division Level Competition in Taekwondo (AAG Boys) concluded at Indoor Hall, Bhagwati Nagar, here today, while Inter-Zonal District Level competitions for U-19 Boys in Basketball and Kho-Kho commenced at MA Stadium and Green Field, Gandhi Nagar.
Over 250 students participated in today’s events, which provided a platform for young athletes to showcase their skills and secure selection for higher-level competitions. The Taekwondo competition saw intense action across three age groups.
In U-14 Boys, gold medals were bagged by Jai Singh (Samba, Below 18 kg), Lokinder Singh (Kathua, -21 kg), Sourav Singh (Kathua, -23 kg), Sourav Verma (Udhampur, -25 kg), Stith Sharma (Kathua, -27 kg), Samarth Dogra (Udhampur, -29 kg) and Zaad Zia Wani (Jammu, -32 kg). Other notable winners included Joel Rana (Samba), Atul Sharma (Jammu), Ashish (Doda) and many more securing silver and bronze medals.
In U-17 Boys, gold winners included Anurag Khajuria (Udhampur, -35 kg), Udhay Dev (Samba, -38 kg), Arun Kumar (Udhampur, -41 kg), Sarvjeet Singh (Udhampur, -45 kg), and Ashutosh Sharma (Jammu, -48 kg). Athletes from Doda, Poonch, Ramban and Kathua also featured among medalists.
In the U-19 category, gold medals went to Shivansh Rajput (Udhampur, -45 kg), Mohammad Hadi (Jammu, -51 kg), Mohit Anthal (Udhampur, -55 kg), Muzakir Hussain (Kishtwar, -59 kg) and Vivek Dingra (Kathua, -63 kg).
Meanwhile, in Basketball U-19, Zone Miran Sahib beat Zone Jammu (26-14), Satwari beat Bhalwal (26-22), and Akhnoor beat RS Pura (25-18). In Kho-Kho U-19 Quarterfinals, RS Pura beat Bhalwal, Akhnoor beat Khour, Miran Sahib beat Chowki Choura and Jourian beat Jammu.
The competitions were conducted under the technical guidance of departmental experts including Atul Pangotra, Varinder Singh, Mousmi Verma, Nitin Singh, Rajesh Bandral and others.
