Jammu facing threat from drug abuse: JCCI

JAMMU, Dec 17: The Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry has said that Jammu is currently facing a severe threat from drug abuse, noting that even the younger generation is increasingly involved in drug consumption.
Speaking in a meeting of the office bearers of the Chamber its president Arun Gupta said the trend is not only destroying the career and future of youth but also subjecting their families to immense social stigma and making  them culprits in the eyes of society.
Gupta stressed that to effectively control this evil, and there is an urgent and critical need to identify and apprehend the kingpins and main suppliers orchestrating this trade.
Further Chamber president expressed serious concerns over traffic congestion and chaos  in entire Jammu city especially at main crossings, which is badly affecting the movement of daily commuters and office  goers. He said that the traffic lights installed for streamlining the traffic system under intelligent traffic management systems are lying non-functional aggravating  the situation.
He requested the traffic authorities to immediately repair all non-functional traffic lights across the city to streamline traffic movement and ensure the safety and convenience of commuters in Jammu.
The other office bearers present in the meeting include Anil Gupta, senior vice president; Rajeev Gupta, junior vice president; Manish Gupta, secretary general; Rajesh Gupta, secretary and Rajesh Gupta, treasurer.
