Jammu faces health crisis as BJP MLAs remain silent: Rajesh Gupta

JAMMU, July 2: Senior National Conference leader Rajesh Gupta today accused the Modi-led BJP Government of betraying the poor and dismantling their last hope for affordable healthcare.
Gupta lashed out at the Centre’s move to quietly remove life-saving surgeries from the Ayushman Bharat Sehat Scheme, calling it a “healthcare scam sold with slogans.”
In a statement issued, Gupta said, “These were not luxury treatments they were daily survival procedures for the poor. The Modi Government has thrown patients to the wolves.”
“With private hospitals barred from performing these procedures under the scheme, Government hospitals like GMC Jammu are drowning under pressure. Doctors report waiting periods of up to three months, even for patients in severe pain,” he said.
“But perhaps more shameful is the silence of BJP’s elected MLAs. They were loud before elections, now they’re invisible while their people suffer. Their silence is not just cowardice it is criminal,” he added.
Gupta demanded immediate restoration of the delisted surgeries and warned that the public urban and rural alike will not forget this betrayal.
The Ayushman Bharat scheme, once paraded as the world’s largest health insurance program, has now been reduced to a cruel illusion for thousands of families.
As of March 15, common surgeries like gallbladder removal, piles, appendix operations and fissure treatment have been silently dropped from the coverage list.
