JAMMU, Aug 5: In a proud moment for Jammu and Kashmir, well-known environmentalist Pritam Singh, founder of the Peepal Saves People Foundation Trust, has been invited to attend the prestigious ‘At Home Reception’ at Rashtrapati Bhawan, New Delhi, on the occasion of Independence Day 2025.
Pritam Singh expressed great excitement over the invitation, calling it a proud moment not just for him and his family, but for the entire Union Territory. “Years of hard work have paid off,” he said. “This recognition motivates me further and I plan to take this mission to the next level for the betterment of the environment and future generations.”
Over the past six years, Singh has planted more than 12,000 Peepal (Ficus) saplings across educational institutions, hospitals, Army and Police areas and public spaces. The Peepal tree, known for emitting oxygen both day and night while absorbing carbon dioxide, plays a significant role in combating air pollution.
Singh’s efforts have earned formal appreciation from various dignitaries, including the Chief Justice of J&K High Court, Director General of Police and the Divisional Commissioner. He has also received the ‘Sanatan Shri’ Award from the Lieutenant Governor and a nomination for the ‘Maharshi Shri Aurobindo Samman’. Recently, Pritam also received souvenir from Chief Minister on Van Mahotsav, 2025.
Recently, a ‘Peepal Van’ was launched in collaboration with the Department of Wildlife Protection and Singh plans to release a book on the Peepal tree to promote awareness on national and international platforms.
