JAMMU, Dec 7: A Jammu-based couple returning from a wedding in Amritsar died after their car hit a parked trolley in Gurdaspur district today.

The deceased have been identified as Jeevan Batta son of Jaswant Rai and his wife Harsh Batta, both residents of Green Belt Park, behind Panch Mandir, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
As per reports, the collision, which happened near Nowshera Mera Singh area of Gurdaspur, was so severe that both husband and wife died on-the-spot.
Another couple travelling with them sustained serious injuries and were admitted to a private hospital in Gurdaspur, where their condition is stated to be critical.
Reports said the family had gone to Amritsar to attend a wedding and was returning to Jammu when the accident occurred.
A relative of the deceased, Honey Trehan, told media persons in Gurdaspur that the couple was returning home when their car met with an accident near Nowshera Mera Singh.
He said two relatives travelling with them were also injured and are undergoing treatment, with their condition stated to be serious.
While the bodies of the deceased have been shifted to the Batala Civil Hospital by a police team from Nowshera Mera Singh outpost for post-mortem examination, a case under the relevant sections has also been registered to further investigate into the incident.
Meanwhile, the family members of the victims have been informed to take possession of the bodies after the post-mortem examination.
