Jammu Club organizes plantation drive under “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign

JAMMU, July 30: In a heartfelt tribute to the environment and motherhood, Jammu Club organized a plantation drive under the national campaign “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,” launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The event, held in the green lawns of Jammu Club, aimed to foster environmental awareness and emotional bonding with nature by encouraging people to plant trees in the name of their mothers.
The drive witnessed enthusiastic participation from Club committee members, staff and dignitaries. Anuradha Jangid, wife of the Divisional Commissioner Jammu and Vice President of Jammu Club, graced the occasion as the chief guest. A noted artist known for her contribution to cultural and religious heritage in Jammu & Kashmir and Rajasthan, she planted a sapling and called upon youth and women to lead such green initiatives. “Every tree we plant is not just a sapling-it is a legacy,” she said.
Honorary Secretary of Jammu Club, Gaurav Gupta, emphasized the importance of blending personal emotion with environmental responsibility. He appreciated the efforts of the Club committee and praised Kavita Gupta, Chairperson of the Garden Sub Committee, for her dedication in maintaining the Club’s greenery.
The plantation drive concluded with a pledge to protect nature and promote sustainability. Refreshments were served to all participants. The Managing Committee Members present at the event included Er. Ashok Gandotra, Dr. Meenakshi Kotwal, Indu Puri, Ashwani Gupta, Sidharth Samnotra, Dr. Hema Gandotra Jandial, Dr. Ritesh Gupta, Vikram Dhawan, Dr. Yudhvir Gupta, Manish Gupta, Neha Gupta, Dr. Rakesh Gupta, Ashok Kumar Angural, Ashok K. Vaid, Er. Rakesh Baru, Er. Sanjeev Mohan, Anil Aggarwal, Dr. Kuldip Singh and Ashwani Khullar. The event showcased how local organizations can meaningfully contribute to national environmental goals.
