JAKASICON-25 begins at GMC Anantnag

SRINAGAR, June 21: The 11th Annual Conference of the J&K State Chapter of the Association of Surgeons of India (ASI), JAKASICON 25, commenced today at GMC Anantnag.
Organized by the Department of General and Minimal Access Surgery, the three-day event brings together leading surgeons, emerging talents, and medical scholars from across India and abroad.
The conference theme is ‘Delivering value-based services to your doorstep.’
Held under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Rukhsana Najeeb, Principal of GMC Anantnag, and chaired by Dr. Nazir Wani, Head of the General and Minimal Access Surgery Department, the event aims to foster academic exchange, innovation and mentorship.
The inaugural ceremony featured Chief Guest Prof. Shoukat Jeelani, the founding principal of GMC Anantnag, and Guests of Honour Dr. Madhumita Mukhopadhyay, Treasurer of ASI, Prof. Rukhsana Najeeb, and Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, Coordinator of New Medical Colleges, UTI Jammu and Kashmir.
Day one highlights included panel discussions on laparoscopic management of inguinal hernia and contemporary approaches to gallbladder cancer, led by prominent surgeons.
A special felicitation honored senior surgeons from South Kashmir, culminating in the Lifetime Achievement Award presented to Prof. Dr. Mohammad Yousuf Wani for his decades-long service and leadership in surgery.
