JAMMU, Jan 16: The JAK Ex-Servicemen Cooperative Store Ltd. will be organizing a one-day orientation program and membership drive on January 18. The event will take place at the JAK Ex-Servicemen Cooperative Store, SIDCO Industrial Complex, Lane No 3, Near Dabur Factory, Bari Brahmana, Jammu.
Formed in 1986 by Ex-Servicemen and Veer Naris, the cooperative has faced challenges due to unfavorable Government taxation policies, leading to its suspension. However, with the guidance of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, the leadership of Major General Goverdhan Singh Jamwal (Retd), Chairman of the Cooperative, and support from the Department of Cooperatives, the cooperative is now being revived in collaboration with UNATI Agro Allied Multistate Marketing Cooperative Society Ltd.
The Government of JK UT, Chief Secretary JK UT, Secretary Cooperatives JK UT have been magnanimous in understanding the plight of Ex-Servicemen and Veer Naris and have extended full support to bring this cooperative back to life. This is in line with the vision of Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, and Amit Shah, Union Minister for Corporation, to initiate a cooperative movement in India. They have been generous in recognizing that Ex-Servicemen, being a disciplined lot, can contribute immensely to nation-building.
The event will focus on educating Ex-Servicemen and Veer Naris about the cooperative movement and its benefits. The cooperative is set to be expanded into a Multipurpose Agriculture Products Cooperative Society (MPACS) operating at the national level. All Ex-Servicemen in Jammu and Kashmir are invited to join the program and become part of this nation-building initiative.
