JAMMU, Mar 19: The services of Anand Jain, IPS (JK:99), who is presently working as SSP Baramulla have been placed at the disposal of the Government of India for his posting as Private Secretary to the Chairman, Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), Nandan Nilekani for a period of five years.
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has been created as an attached office under the Planning Commission of India. Its role is to develop and implement the necessary institutional, technical and legal infrastructure to issue unique identity numbers to Indian residents.
On 25 June , 2009, the Union Cabinet had created and approved the position of the Chairperson of the UIDAI, and appointed Mr. Nandan Nilekani as the first Chairperson in the rank and status of a Cabinet Minister.
According to an order issued by State Home Department, DIG Baramulla, North Kashmir Range shall hold the charge of the post of SSP Baramulla in addition to his own duties till the post is filled on permanent basis.
