Jagti inmates protest against shortage of teachers in camp schools

JAMMU, July 18: The inmates of Jagti township held a protest demonstration today against the shortage of faculty in Camp Higher Secondary School and Middle School Jagti.
The protest was led by Sunil Pandita a social activist and it was joined by parents of students who raised slogans against the School administration for their failure in posting teachers in the two camp schools despite repeated pleas by parents.
The protestors said that the role of Jagti Middle School is over 200 and there are only three teachers to teach these schools. It is not known what justice they can do to the students. Likewise the Higher Secondary School Jagti has over 400 students on its roll and there are only 18 teachers. Moreover, despite the repeated pleas the authorities have not posted the lecturer in Commerce Subject till date since the establishment of camp school at Jagti. Moreover, teachers’ posts of various other subjects are also vacant, they alleged.
The protestors alleged that the School authorities this way were playing with the future of these poor children whose parents are unable to afford the private schools and tuition for them due to poverty as they are only dependent on cash doles from the Government.
The protestors made an appeal to higher authorities as well as Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha to look into the problem and do justice with these poor children whose career is at stake due to failure of authorities in posting the teachers in two camp schools.
They said there is shortage of two Commerce lecturers, one Physical Education lecturer, one Computer Science, one Hindi , one Sociology , one Zoology lecturer besides one master and teacher of Hindi subject in Camp Higher Secondary School Jagti.
Moreover, the Camp Middle School is also having shortage of Hindi, English teachers and General Line four teachers, they added. They warned to launch agitation in case the problem was not settled. Those who addressed included Muna Ji, Daya Krishan and Sanjay Dhar.
