JAMMU, Sept 14: The inmates of Jagti township have expressed their grave concern over the prevailing water scarcity in the township.
In a statement the socio-political activists including Sanjay Dhar, Sunil Pandita and Vinod Pandita said that it is a pity that the Jagti township is facing severe water crisis for last 20 days and the concerned authorities are taking no pains in solving the problem despite repeated pleas by the camp inmates.
They said whenever an officer is being contacted on phone he does not respond. The severe water crisis has put over 3000 families of the township in grave trouble. They said the work on the bore wells sanctioned for the township due to failure of water supply scheme has not also been started with the result the problems of camp inmates are compounding day by day.
In an appeal to Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner, Dr Arvind Karwani they sought his immediate intervention in the matter and urged him to issue instructions to the concerning engineering staff to take measures in early restoration of water supply to the township failing which the inmates of Jagti will be forced to take to streets.
