JAMMU, Nov 9: Splendid batting of IR Jaggi (30) and Virat Singh (40) helped Jharkhand to defeat J&K by 5 wickets in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy, played at Reliance Cricket Stadium Vadodara, today.
J&K won the toss and elected to bat first and scored 156 runs by losing 6 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Opening duo-Qamran Iqbal and Jatin Wadhwan made 37 and 45 runs while facing 30 and 41 balls respectively, while Abdul Samad scored 17 runs off 13 balls with the help of a maximum and captain Shubham Singh Pundir played unbeaten 26 runs off 12 balls, studded with three crispy boundaries and a six, besides Parvez Rasool and Aquib Nabi contributed 14 and 6 runs off 11 and 4 balls respectively. Ian Chauhan made 10 runs off 9 balls. For Jharkhand, Utkarsh Singh took 2 wickets by conceding 22 runs, while Shahbaz Nadeem, Bal Krishna and KR Singh clinched 1 wicket each.
In reply, the Jharkhand team chased the set target in 19.2 overs by losing only 5 wickets in the process and registered 5 wickets win over J&K. Virat Singh made highest 40 runs off 29 balls, studded with three boundaries and two maximums, while opener-IR Jaggi made 30 runs with the four crispy boundaries while facing 29 balls and skipper Saurabh Tiwary and KR Singh contributed 24 & 29 runs respectively.
For J&K, Ram Dayal took 2 wickets by conceding 28 runs, while Auqib Nabi, Abid Mushtaq and Parvez Rasool clinched 1 wicket each giving away 35, 26 & 24 runs in their four overs.
