JAMMU, Sept 4: Joint Action Committee of general category has expressed strong resentment over assumption of charge of Director Animal Husbandry by a far junior officer and threatened to move court against the same.
An emergency meeting of JAC was held here at Thakker Rajput Sabha Jammu, which was presided over by Narayan Singh (president Rajput Sabha) and attended by Ved Prakash Sharma (president Brahman Sabha) and other leaders, including employees of various Government Departments. The meeting deliberated the recent assumption of charge of Director, Animal Husbandry Department by Mohd Yousuf Chaproo who belongs to reserved category and falls at serial number 93 in the seniority list of the department thereby flouting the directions of Supreme Court to maintain status quo in the case of extending Reservation in promotions.
The JAC alleged that deserving candidate belonging to general category, Dr Kewal Krishan Bhardawaj, existing at Serial No 20 in the seniority list, has been ignored by the higher authorities on the verbal instructions of Minister Incharge , Animal Husbandary Department and made to stagnate at his current post .
The JAC reminded that the High Court has quashed the reservation in promotion rules and the Supreme Cout had directed to maintain status quo. The GAD circulars in vogue currently have also stated that no reserved category candidate should be promoted till the outcome of the writ petition in the Supreme Court.
Joint Action Committee unanimously resolved to take the fight to streets and file contempt proceedings against the erring officers/ministers if the directions of Supreme Court are flouted and undue benefit is bestowed by any means to the reserved category candidates.
During the meeting, JAC members expressed faith in the leadership of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti who, they said, has stood tall and always believed on the pillars of legal justice system.
