IUST hosts ‘Meet the Eminent’ session with former IGNOU VC

SRINAGAR, Oct 15: Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), under its ‘Meet the Eminent’ programme, hosted Prof M Aslam, former Vice Chancellor, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi.
The programme, organized by Rumi Library, aimed to provide the University community an opportunity to engage with distinguished scholars and gain insights into contemporary academic developments.
Prof Aslam’s presentation highlighted the significance of scholarly pursuits, knowledge sharing and research excellence. He also shared his professional journey spanning 47 years and spoke about his contributions at national and international levels.
The programme was presided over by Prof Shakil A Romshoo, Vice Chancellor, IUST and attended by Prof Abdul W Makhdoomi, Registrar, along with the Finance Officer, Deans, Directors, Heads of Departments and Centres, faculty members and Library staff.
In his presidential address, Prof Romshoo urged faculty members to demonstrate greater dedication and excellence to help IUST achieve recognition at both national and international levels. He noted that such programmes motivate faculty to work productively toward the university’s growth.
Earlier, welcoming the guests, Dr S M Imran, Librarian, emphasized the importance of such initiatives in fostering academic dialogue and inspiration within the university.
The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Muneejah Khan, Head, Department of English Language and Literature.
