GANDERBAL, Nov 6: As part of its outreach programme, the Income Tax Department, Srinagar, today organised the second event in its “Tax Talks” series at the Central University of Kashmir, Ganderbal campus.
A statement said the session focused on the theme “Importance of Progressive Taxation”, where students from the commerce and finance streams participated in a debate and were later felicitated with prizes.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and officers of the department.
It was led by Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax, Shakil Ahmad Ganie, along with Income Tax Officer Abhineet Jhorar, and Deputy Commissioner of Sales Tax, Rifat Qureshi.
Speakers highlighted the significance of income tax in socio-economic development and underlined the need for voluntary compliance and awareness among citizens.
The discussions also focused on promoting tax education and building a culture of responsibility to strengthen the economy.
Registrar of the university, Nisar Ahmad, expressed gratitude to the Income Tax Department for organising the event in collaboration with the university and appreciated its efforts to educate youth on taxation matters.
