JAMMU, Dec 28: MLA, Katra, Baldev Raj Sharma today said the issues raised by him in his representation to Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the long-pending developmental needs of Katra town have now started receiving concrete administrative action.
Addressing a press conference in Katra, Sharma stated that during the visit of the Prime Minister to Katra on 6th June 2025, he had handed over a detailed letter highlighting key demands such as the construction of Smart Roads, 24×7 drinking water supply, uninterrupted electricity, and strengthening of urban infrastructure in Katra. Taking prompt cognizance of the representation, the Prime Minister’s Office forwarded the matter to Dr. Jitendra singh, who further forwarded it to the Divisional Commissioner Jammu for necessary action.
Subsequently, acting on these directions, a review meeting was convened by the Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, to examine and review the developmental issues raised in the representation.
The MLA expressed his sincere gratitude to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his personal intervention and timely response to the concerns of the people of Katra, which has ensured that these important developmental issues are being pursued through the administrative process.
He informed that the review meeting was attended by the Director, Urban Local Bodies Jammu, and the Chief Engineers of PWD Pir Panjal, UEED Jammu, and Jal Shakti (PHE) Jammu. The Divisional Commissioner directed all concerned departments to prepare Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) within a stipulated period of 45 days, after which another review meeting will be held to assess progress and ensure timely implementation.
Raj Sharma reiterated his firm commitment to the overall development of Katra town and assured the people that he will continue to closely monitor and actively follow up on all matters related to public welfare and infrastructure development.
