BISHNAH, Oct 27: Former minister and senior Congress leader Gulchain Singh Charak today said that he discussed all the issues of border people and firing victims with the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah with regard to their rehabilitation in safer zones and relief/ compensation.
Mr Charak while speaking in the Block Congress Committee meeting held at Block headquarters of the party at Bishnah today said that all the issues pertaining to border people/ migrants were discussed threadbare with the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah at Srinagar. He said the decisions were also taken accordingly. Charak said that the decisions taken in the meeting would certainly give solace to the affected people. He appealed the District Administration to expedite the work on the decisions taken.
While throwing light on the issues discussed, Mr Charak said that directions were immediately given to the DC Jammu to identify the State land at safer places so as to allot 5 marla plots to the border people. Issue regarding special recruitment for the border youth was also taken and it was decided to approach the Central Government in this regard. Recruitment in the Armed forces for youth is being held at Nagrota on October 31 and November 1st, 2014 for which District Administration has made special arrangements for the counseling of the youth from border belt and also for their transportation to the site.
About the plight of those seriously injured in Pakistani firing Charak said they are being kept at Red Cross Sarai. Health Minister Taj Mohiuddin directed the GMC Jammu authorities to depute a team of doctors to attend these injured persons. The issue pertaining to declaring 5-8 kms belt as Backward Area was also strongly taken up with the CM and he has assured to discuss the issue in details with all others. The issue of free insurance scheme for property, cattle and crop was also taken up.
BCC president Capt Harshverdan Sharma, Waryam Chand, Dr O P Saini and Gambhir Dev Singh Charak also spoke on the occasion.
