ISBTI shines at TRANSCON, Dr Meena Sidhu honoured with lifetime achievement award

JAMMU, Sept 22: The Jammu & Kashmir Chapter of the Indian Society for Blood Transfusion and Immunohematology (ISBTI) today brought laurels to the Union Territory by bagging multiple prestigious awards at the 50th Annual National Conference, TRANSCON 2025, held at Grand Hyatt, Gurugram, Haryana.
The highlight of the conference was the conferment of the “Lifetime Achievement Award” on Dr Meena Sidhu, Professor & Head, Department of Immunohematology and Blood Transfusion, GMC, Jammu.
Dr Sidhu also serves as chairperson of ISBTI J&K Chapter and is a National Member of the Technical Resource Group (TRG) on Blood Transfusion Services, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India.
The award was presented by Nayab Singh Saini, Chief Minister of Haryana.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Sidhu said, “This Lifetime Achievement Award is not just a personal honor, but recognition of our entire team’s commitment to safe transfusion practices, voluntary blood donation, and research. It will inspire us to work with even greater dedication.”
Dr Navneet Kaur, social reformer and secretary general of ISBTI J&K Chapter, was also conferred with the Award of Excellence for Volunteer Donor Motivation.
Another proud moment came when Dr Irm was presented the A N Kashyab Award for her meritorious services in blood transfusion.
The ISBTI team also received national recognition for their impactful initiatives under Anemia Mukt Bharat and their commendable role during Operation Sindhoor, where they organized numerous blood donation camps to support patients and Thalassemia children.
Among others who were present during the function included Dr Naveen Akhtar, Dr Anshu Mahajan, postgraduate students including Dr Urvashi, Dr Lubna, Dr Abida, Dr Rajat and Dr Kamya.
